All officers in charge of a navigational watch operating within polar waters must be trained and certified, according to Chapter 12 of the Polar Code, taking into account the provisions of the IMO STCW Convention and Code, section A-V/4, paragraph 1.

Participants should hold a certificate as Master, chief mate or officer in charge of a navigation watch qualified in accordance with regulations II/1, II/2 and II/3 respectively of the STCW Convention, issued or recognised by Government of India
Participants should be in possession of Certificate of Proficiency [CoP] of Basic training for ships in polar waters
